Avon Cape Cod Ruby Ware in Pre-Production Green

Items for sale are the Ruby Cape Cod pieces. As you can see they are not typical color of the Ruby Ware. These pieces are the pre-production pieces before the lehr reached it's flashing temperature. Ruby glass is not manufactured red. The annealing lehr must be at a specific temperature to flash the glass and have it turn the Ruby color. These pieces are during the time in the lehr before its hot enough to flash but hot enough to anneal. During these types of production the green glass is always destroyed. I worked for Wheaton Glass for 20 years, starting in 1972. I had the privilege to work around these production runs and pull undamaged pieces out of the cullet before being destroyed. These pieces have no chips scratches or breaks in them. There are 35 pieces total, ranging from plates to bowels, to small and large goblets, etc. The green ranges from all green to some ruby flashed in the piece. as far as I know, this is the only collection of this kind.
